I’m Tarun Vasagiri, a Software Engineer at Dell Technologies, working at the intersection of security and AI. My role is a blend of innovation and resilience, where I design and develop AI-driven features for Dell’s Data Protection appliances using cutting-edge tools and frameworks. What drives me is a deep passion to make a meaningful impact in my domain.
From Intern to Leading Interns
My journey began as a graduate intern at Dell, where I contributed to internal products focused on regression and functional testing for Data Protection appliances. It was an incredible learning experience—getting hands-on exposure to advanced technologies in the data protection space. The turning point came when my leaders encouraged me to pursue an idea: automating regression testing with an intelligent framework. I built a proof of concept, and after transitioning to a full-time role, I led multiple interns to implement this solution on internal servers. This initiative significantly reduced testing time and improved overall product quality. The support and empowerment I received to transform an idea into a full-fledged framework gave me a strong sense of ownership from day one.
Endless Opportunities to Learn
Working in the Data Protection domain opened doors to diverse areas—security, networking, DevOps, AI and more. At Dell, there are no boundaries to what you can learn or contribute to. The culture encourages curiosity and continuous growth, keeping the learner in you alive. Programs like mentorship sessions and 1:1 meetings allow you to connect with brilliant minds across Dell, ensuring a fulfilling and rewarding career.
Innovation as a Daily Practice
At Dell, innovation isn’t an event—it’s a culture. Hackathons, employee focus groups, and networking opportunities make it easy to work on cutting-edge technologies and bring new ideas to life. My journey into AI started during a hackathon, where I developed an AI-based usability solution for our product. The project was recognized and later productized with the support of my leaders. This milestone led me to file my first invention disclosure and dive deeper into language models and RAG pipelines, adding advanced functionalities to our solutions. For me, getting the chance to design and implement AI features in enterprise products is nothing short of a dream come true.
The Dell Culture
Over the past four years, Dell has given me more than just a career—it has given me a community. From coffee chats to weekend hikes, I’ve built lasting friendships. Originally from Hyderabad, I was thrilled to join Dell’s Pune office, and my team made me feel at home instantly. Together, we’ve explored almost every hiking trail around Pune! Today, I actively contribute to the Intern Induction Committee, ensuring every new intern feels the same warmth and support that I experienced. Dell Technologies isn’t just a workplace—it’s a platform for growth, innovation, and meaningful connections. My journey here has been transformative, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.
