I currently work as a Focal Point Engineer on the A/B Testing team for Dell.com’s global website, where I support experiments across multiple countries and collaborate daily with teams in India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Slovakia.
In my role, I ensure that tests are implemented according to business and technical requirements, proactively identify potential experience issues, and maintain close alignment with developers, quality assurance, analysts, and optimization managers. I also act as Project Manager and Designer for our internal team application, Dynamite, contributing to process optimization and team efficiency.
Was there a specific moment or experience that sparked your interest in focal point engineering?
Not exactly. Since I was a child, I’ve always felt naturally connected to technology—watching technicians fix my computer, installing games, and exploring different digital tools. I discovered a strong passion for HR as well, where I enjoyed the daily challenges and the opportunity to support people. During the pandemic, with more time to reflect, I revisited the dream I had set aside and realized it was something I truly wanted to pursue. That’s when I began exploring ways to make this career transition within Dell, combining my previous experience with my long-standing interest in the technology field.
What aspects of focal point engineering excite you the most today compared to when you started?
Becoming an engineer opened up an entirely new world of possibilities—creating features, redesigning experiences across Dell.com, and improving user interactions while collaborating with cross‑functional teams. My background as a Payroll HR Partner gave me valuable insight into how technology supports complex processes and compliance requirements. In engineering, I now have the opportunity to contribute directly to building solutions, which is incredibly motivating. Turning ideas into impactful products is one of the aspects that excites me the most about this role.
Have you developed any project or had any experience in focal point engineering that you feel proud of?
Since I work with A/B testing globally for Dell.com and Dell Premier, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to several experiences that are now live on the site—something that makes me very proud. Knowing that, even before a feature goes live, my A/B testing team is responsible for analyzing and validating the best user experience is incredibly rewarding.
In addition, I am also the Project Manager and Designer of an internal tool our team uses called Dynamite. Early last year, we launched a new version of this tool, aiming to comply with Dell Design System (DDS) guidelines and improve several functionalities. It was a very exciting challenge because I’ve always been passionate about design, and being able to create the prototypes for the new version was amazing—once again seeing my ideas come to life.
