Progress Takes Diversity: Darlene Demonstrates Success as a Dell Woman in Tech

Darlene R. | Technical Support Engineer | Panama

Darlene Ramsey has been at Dell Technologies for the past ten years. Here, she started and developed her career and has also been involved in different activities to show that Dell is the place for Women in Tech, participating as a brand ambassador to highlight our company culture.

She shares her experience as a woman in Tech at Dell in the interview below:

What brought you to Dell Technologies?

I started here as my first career in 2012; I've always worked at Dell. I have gone through different teams during this time, and now I am part of the Data Protection Division (DPD) Latin America Support Team.

What's the best part about working at Dell?

It is the benefits, the investment in our constant technical growth, and the flexibility for hybrid work. Also, what I love most is the ease in which the company adapts to changes.

How has Dell helped you grow personally and professionally?

When I started my career at Dell, I had just graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Networks. So, these ten years that I have been here have allowed me to expand my range of technical knowledge and have also allowed me to work in different areas with varying types of equipment, so I already know the full range of Dell equipment. Also, thanks to the support I received from the company, I have obtained various types of certifications related to the products I have worked on and to computer networks. I love that the company supports us with certifications and different online training we can access.

Have you participated in any development programs?

I have participated in the Leadership Academy, which allows us to learn about team management and leadership. It was a month of various training sessions with diverse types of group dynamics. This program has helped me in my professional growth within the company.

How do you explain Diversity and Inclusion at Dell?

What I like a lot about Dell and what differentiates it from other companies is that, from my personal experience and the environment in the company, there is no discrimination. Here, you can be yourself. Also, the fact that we have different Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) where people enthusiastic about a common identity or subject can come together and then be part of that group is fantastic.

Is there something that makes you most proud when you reflect on your ten-year career?

When I joined Dell, I always knew where I wanted to be, which was in the server and networking area, so what I tried was training, shadowing, and 1:1s with different managers to learn more about the teams, and I'm proud that I managed to get where I wanted.
