Designing with Heart: Anna’s Journey as a Front-End Developer

Anna Drozdova | Front-End Developer | Poland

I joined Dell Technologies almost three years ago, after choosing to fully pursue front-end development; a field that allows me to merge logic, creativity, structure, and visual expression. What began as a deep curiosity about coding and design has grown into a full, meaningful career. At Dell, I’ve found a place where I can bring both my analytical and artistic sides into my work, collaborate with open-minded colleagues from different cultures, and feel supported as a whole person. Whether I show up with blue hair, pink hair, or something in between, I feel accepted and encouraged to be myself professionally and personally.

What brought you to Dell Technologies?

My journey wasn’t a straight line. After university, I worked as a game tester, which helped me understand how software behaves, but I quickly realized I wanted more than just finding bugs. I wanted to build things, shape user experiences, and see the results of my work come alive visually. So, I enrolled in a demanding, year-long front-end development program that consumed nearly all my free time. Despite the intensity, it strengthened my skills and passion. When it was time to take the next step, Dell stood out with its values, global opportunities, and innovative spirit. Joining felt like the beginning of something meaningful; and it was.

How would you describe what a front-end developer does?

A simple way to put it is that everything you see on a website is brought to life by front-end developers. Colors, buttons, animations—these elements come from careful coding and design thinking. But the work goes much deeper. I constantly collaborate with back-end developers to understand how data flows, how systems communicate, and how information should be visually translated. Front-end development is where creativity meets engineering. It’s about creating experiences that feel intuitive and natural to the user while ensuring the underlying code is clean and logical.

What makes collaboration at Dell special for you?

Collaboration at Dell feels effortless because people are genuinely kind and open. Our team brings together front-end, back-end, and Quality Assurance (QA) specialists, and we rely on each other every day. We ask questions freely, share ideas, and support one another through challenges. What makes it truly special is how Dell builds teams. People fit together like puzzle pieces—professionally and personally. We talk not only about code but about our lives, cultures, pets, hobbies, and experiences. This connection makes teamwork smoother, more creative, and much more enjoyable.

How has Dell supported your growth and well-being?

Dell has supported my development in ways that genuinely matter. One of the biggest advantages is that the company helps cover part of the cost when we want to take additional courses. Whether it’s something directly connected to frontend development or a different area I want to explore, having the option to pursue learning without hesitation is extremely empowering. It encourages me to invest in myself and keep growing. Beyond formal education, Dell also provides many internal platforms and programs—like the Inspire program and other resources that help employees strengthen their skills, discover new interests, and understand themselves better professionally. Knowing that these opportunities exist gives me a strong sense of support. It feels like Dell truly wants people to progress, expand their capabilities, and shape the career path that feels right for them.

Tell us about a project or innovation you’re proud of.

I’ve worked on three major projects at Dell, each offering new lessons. My current project stands out the most because of its strong planning, clarity, and organization. It gives me space to contribute meaningfully and bring my visual strengths forward. I often take on UI/UX improvements, refining layouts, proposing design changes, and ensuring structural consistency. Working with my UX/UI mentor from Dublin, who is also Ukrainian, has been incredibly inspiring. Our bi-weekly sessions help me expand my design perspective and bring fresh ideas to the team.

Why do you choose Dell Technologies every day?

For me, the answer is simple: Dell lets me be my true self. It’s a global company full of diverse people: Ukrainians, Indians, Poles, and many more, working together with mutual respect. The multicultural environment, combined with opportunities to grow and contribute creatively, makes it a place where I feel both valued and inspired. I also love our team celebrations, boating, friendly sports, bonfires, music, and simply enjoying time together. At Dell, I can build my technical skills, express my creativity, and feel comfortable in my own skin. That’s why I choose it every day.
