Fiona's Life at Dell: Why I Enjoy Working at Dell Technologies

Please introduce yourself and your role at Dell Technologies

I am a Senior Presales Solutions Architect for Enterprise Global & Foreign Accounts at Dell Technologies Japan. I design solutions to help customers achieve their IT and business goals.

I started my career as a Software Designer in China, then moved to Singapore. While seeing the world, I worked as an Implementation Engineer at EMC Singapore. I found myself very interested in a presales role, then I got an opportunity to work in presales in Japan. I have been living and working in Japan since 2011 and I really love it here.

How do you find #LifeAtDell?

I love it! People are very open and supportive. If you need help or want to learn new things to help you perform better, there is always someone who is willing to help you. Working at Dell, I have opportunities to take on new challenges and get new exposure every year. Over the past years, I have been encouraged by my leader to participate or lead various Japan/APJ/Global programs; such as open-banking workstream, APJ FSI Vertical practice, CTO Ambassador, and Global Presales Women in Action. These helped me to grow as well as build a global network. I know that my leader cares about her team. We sit down periodically to discuss my career, the path to achieve my goals and if there are any gaps, she connects me with people who will help me to succeed.

What makes you excited about working at Dell? I know you are a working mother. How do you balance it all?

Yes, I am a working mother! Having a full-time job while juggling the responsibilities of being a mom could lead to lots of stress. However, I am very passionate about technologies and about helping our customers on their digital transformation journey. I enjoy what I am doing and I found having a career goal at every stage also motivates me.

Furthermore, Dell's culture helps me a lot. At Dell, we believe work is not tied to where you are but what you do. We value outcome more than counting the working hours in the day. Also, when you build your connections around world, you get inspired by the people around you. I have learned a lot from other fantastic women in the workforce. Opportunities will be coming around; there are unlimited possibilities. Because I love what I do in such a great environment, I want to make more time for work.
