I’ve been at Dell Technologies for a little over six months now and I’m enjoying the experience even more than I imagined. I’m currently part of the Consumer Sales Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, where I’ve had the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute in meaningful ways. I am also part of the Amplify ONE team, and Finance Graduate Program (FGP). Alongside my internship, I’m pursuing a degree in Marketing and International Business at the Technological University of Panama.
1. Taking Ownership of My Work
Prior to beginning my internship at Dell Technologies, I anticipated spending most of my time observing workflows and supporting minor tasks while learning from my colleagues. I genuinely expected to take on a more passive role, primarily listening rather than actively contributing. Owning what I am doing has helped me build confidence and made my experience even more worthwhile.
2. Making a Real Impact with My Team
What truly surprised me at the beginning of my internship was how collaborative the work environment is. From the very first day my team not only trained me but also encouraged me to share my perspective, making me feel like an active team member. Furthermore, realizing how much impact we have behind the scenes was also one of the biggest surprises. I joined thinking I’d learn about one department, but I soon discovered how the entire organization operates as one single system, and seeing how crucial my team is to that success was incredibly impactful.
3. Supportive Culture and Mentorship
One of my biggest “wow” moments was realizing how deep the mentorship culture goes within Dell. I had assumed that in such a large organization, interns would not usually be taken into consideration — but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Everyone I worked with was genuinely willing to guide and support my growth. This environment gave me the confidence to expand my network and connect with professionals across different departments, which truly enriched my experience.
Overall, what impresses me most was how deeply the company invests in its people. The emphasis on learning and genuine support for young professionals makes me feel motivated. I am not just learning about the company — I truly contribute to it, and that realization is the most rewarding part of all.
