Celebrating Hispanic Heritage: Ivan's Experience at Dell TechnologiesIvan A. | Senior Analyst, Pricing | Texas, United States Originally Published: September 18th, 2023 About Me: I was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, and I’m 32 years old. I grew up playing baseball and lived in Monterrey until I finished high school. I then moved to the U.S. to pursue a bachelor’s degree. I went to college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX, where I graduated with a degree in Finance. Eventually, I got an MBA with a concentration in Finance also from Sam Houston State University. I’m currently part of the Special Pricing team at Dell Financial Services.
Advice for Young Hispanic/Latino Professionals Looking to Start Their Career at Dell: Get involved as early and often as you can. Find the groups that interest you the most and join them. It truly adds a lot to the experience of working at Dell to be able to connect with colleagues from diverse teams, participate in events and give back to the community.
What I Wish Others Knew About Hispanic Heritage: That it is an incredibly warm and welcoming culture. It is a culture that values family and community, and we are always willing to lend a hand to those who need it. The sense of community and always trying to bring people together is something I will take with me wherever I go. This can be found in different shapes and forms throughout Hispanic/Latino culture. In my case, I’m from Northeast Mexico, and grilling is the way we do it. We love to fire up the grill at the slightest opportunity and call everyone over. But the food is usually just an excuse. What truly matters is getting friends and family together, catching up, and sharing a good time. So, yes, I try to fire up the grill and have friends and family over as much as I can.
