Choosing a Job You Love: From Intern to Full-Time, Kirsten Finds Her Passion at Dell Technologies

When the opportunity to return to Dell Technologies after my summer internship in 2021 came knocking, I knew it was a chance I couldn't pass up. During my internship, Dell offered a multitude of opportunities to foster career progression, so I eagerly accepted a return offer as an Inside Sales Representative (ISR). 

Career progression is often a journey of risks, networking, and self-advocacy. My internship at Dell prepared me for this path, making the transition into my full-time role seamless and inspiring. The tools and skills I acquired during my internship prove useful today in my full-time role as I support my teammates. 

Dell encourages me to leverage my network, not only with colleagues I've worked with before but also with new ones. I'm empowered to ask questions, seek feedback, and continually improve both in my role and as an individual. The most valuable aspect of my experience at Dell is the trust and support I receive. My peers trust me to make important decisions, which has allowed me to cultivate my confidence and professional skills.

Career progression looks different for everyone, depending on their goals and plans. It's not a linear path but a process that encompasses creativity, networking, motivation, teamwork, and success.

My coworkers in the Dell community encourage me to explore my strengths and weaknesses by stepping out of my comfort zone and engaging in conversations. The company has taught me the importance of advocating not only for myself but also for others. I am privileged to collaborate with peers, mentors, coaches, and managers who consistently advocate for my success. Dell has shown me the significance of self-development and the pursuit of new opportunities, recognizing that each person's career journey is unique.

Dell is a place where team member potential is unlocked, and continuous growth is fostered. As Confucius once said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." My transition from intern to full-time employee at Dell exemplifies this notion. I've found a job I'm passionate about, supported by a company that prioritizes my growth and success.
