Can you tell me a bit about yourself and your current role?

I recently graduated from UT Austin with a BS in environmental science. I was able to intern with Dell during my senior year of college and join full-time after graduation. For the past two and a half years since joining Dell, I have been on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Management Office Team. While in this role, I’ve been able to touch on several different aspects of ESG including our annual ESG report, our ESG raters, rankers, and awards, ESG knowledge management, and managing our ESG request process.

As a recent environmental science graduate enthusiastic about the environment, why did you choose to join Dell Technologies?

What is most exciting to me about working in the environmental space at such a large, international company is the scale of impact. When Dell makes one small change it ripples out across the world. So, you can only imagine that when we make the big changes that we are shooting for, such as achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, that has a real-world impact.

What are some of the main initiatives Dell is working on to take climate action?

The most important work we are doing to address climate change is getting to net zero emissions. All of our other climate goals ladder up to this overarching goal which means we have tangible ways of tackling each scope of our emissions to reach our net zero goal.

What have you been most proud of during your career at Dell?

For the past year, I have been able to manage our ESG student internship program. The most fulfilling thing I’ve worked on was strengthening and improving the experience for students in this program. It’s very full circle for me to help build the program that I was a part of just a few short years ago. Seeing the students finish up their year in the program with strong networking connections and industry experience is something I’m proud of.

What advice do you have for incoming talent hoping to make a difference on the planet?

The ESG and Corporate Sustainability space is growing exponentially at this point and there is a place for you at the table.

How do you believe each of us can work towards building a more sustainable future?

I think building a more sustainable future starts with a mindset shift. We need to think about how our action or inaction impacts other people and our planet. Individual action is part of the solution, but we also need to invest in businesses and policies that prioritize sustainability to see large-scale changes.

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?

I love the work-life balance that our team at Dell promotes! Outside of work I enjoy board games, reading, doing yoga, talking on the phone with friends, and trying new hobbies. This year I’ve been trying to learn the ukulele.
