Working as a Manager at Dell Technologies

I am Min-Ah Kim, leading NGSA (Next Generation Sales Academy) in Korea. I have a total of 24 years working experience in the IT industry and 21 of those years have been with Dell Technologies. I am currently leading my team as a manager who is helping mentor and provide various opportunities through NGSA. I have a great sense of responsibility to help everyone on my team grow both as a team member and as a contributor to society.

As more new young members join the team, sometimes we feel a generation gap. However, I tend to set up as many opportunities to have casual chats with them to better understand the younger generation. This not only helps me look at my management style in different ways, but I am also showcasing that I’m here to serve and help, not to just manage them.

Looking back over my 20 plus years 

I was lucky enough to join EMC, a storage leading company, as a Presales Solutions Architect. I had taken many different roles ranging from Product Solutions Marketing to Sales Training. When EMC merged with Dell in 2016, I took a lead role for Sales Enablement and Strategy. Soon after that, I started leading a newly formed team called NGSA which required capabilities with storage and backup solutions. Here at Dell, everyone has an equal opportunity regardless of background, gender, religion, or culture. So, whenever the opportunity presented itself, all I had to do was knock and the door was always open for me.
