What is your current role in your internship?

I have been a Product Marketing Intern for almost 2 years. In that time, I have participated in various interesting projects, which gave me an opportunity to learn a lot and get to know many colleagues from different teams. The biggest project I recently worked on was creating an internal site where our product line managers can share updated news and information on products and solutions. The aim was to efficiently facilitate cross-department collaboration and communication with our multiple stakeholders. This site is a central knowledge base for all the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) Client Solutions Groups. In addition, I’ve participated in other projects such as forming an internal newsletter and supporting with product launches.

How did you find your internship at Dell Technologies and why did you decide to join the company?

I joined Dell Technologies in the beginning of 2021, after returning from studying abroad. From the very beginning of my college years, I had only heard good things about internships at Dell Technologies, and I eventually applied for an internship in the Marketing department. The hiring process went smoothly, and I became a part of an international team. I’ve enjoyed it here since the first day and the atmosphere has always been great. This internship program has brought me professional experience and the opportunity to further develop my skills. Zuzana in an intern event.

What are you working on, any current projects?

Currently, I am maintaining the internal website I created. There’s always edits, content additions, and improvements needed from the audience and owners of the content to make the uploading process as smooth as possible. I also run trainings for content owners to help them understand uploading and updating information directly on the site, and I am available to help them with all issues whenever needed.

On top of that, a new project has just started that I am also contributing to. Its focus is on deep data analysis to identify gaps in Market Verticals where we can grow our business. We collaborate with colleagues from different countries, gathering and analyzing relevant data. The final goal is to provide our leadership team with our findings and recommendations for next steps.

What do you like the most about interning for Dell Technologies?

What I like the most about interning for Dell Technologies are the opportunities that come with it. There are many activities and volunteering possibilities where Dell employees can expand their network, perhaps find new friends, and gain valuable experience. I usually hit “sign up” or “join us” for almost every opportunity I receive. My first activity was a blogging contest for all interns in Slovakia, where we wrote a blog about our experience at Dell Technologies and shared it on our LinkedIn profile. Its aim was to teach us how to write a blog, while reflecting on our experience and spreading awareness about the nice opportunities at Dell, I loved it!

Another big project I joined was Development Open Days. We are a group who organizes development sessions and workshops with professional speakers in all of EMEA. It started as a local project in Slovakia, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic and the transition to an online workplace, the project was able to spread to other countries. Within the core team we play different roles; technical support, marketing to spread awareness, and session moderators.

As a moderator, I was able to improve my organization and presentation skills. I love to join Dell’s events, both as a participant or an organizer, because It’s always so much fun and a time well-spent. Recently, I organized a Santa event where we hosted a fun day for the kids of Dell employees. I also joined a Finance Case Study event where we had to solve 3 tasks in a small team, then present those solutions to finance managers. Zuzana at Santa event.

What have you learned so far that will be helpful in your future and career path?

I learned how important and helpful it is to keep a smile on your face and be positive, you never know when your colleague is having a bad day. Also, taking initiative brings you more than you ask for. I still plan to keep up my spirit of always hitting that “sign up” button and taking opportunities as they come. These decisions never disappoint me and have always surprised me with new friends and fun. Learning is a continuous process, only you can stop yourself from becoming better. I also learned to use my free time more efficiently. When I’m at a slowing point and have nothing else to do, I sign up to take a course about a topic that interests me.

What would you say to encourage others interested in interning with Dell Technologies?

Zuzana working from home.

I started during the Covid-19 pandemic and the process went very smoothly. I received my contract, laptop, and everything directly to my home address. The first day was well organized by HR and IT departments and my manager sent me the first invite for our initial meeting right after; I got to know the processes and people immediately. What I really liked about all of this is how the company managed it all online, while still making me feel the inclusive environment from the beginning. Even though the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic is hopefully behind us, I still have the flexibility of working from home or from the office. I really like coming to the office, meeting people, and going for lunch or coffee with them. However, at times when I am very busy with university lessons or studying, it’s very comfortable to connect online from home.

Outside of work, what else do you enjoy?

You can always count on me attending team building events! Otherwise, in my personal life, I love traveling and exploring new places. My most traveled countries, other than Slovakia, are Belgium and Italy. These are two very different and very beautiful countries. Also, I love eating sweets and trying different desserts wherever I am. Additionally, I like walks, biking, swimming, and simply enjoying life with my closest friends and family.
