What is your current role? I am currently a Data Centre Account Manager with the Next Gen Sales Academy (NGSA) in the UK.
You have a background in Languages, I’m curious about how that decision helped you in Sales and IT? I loved studying French and Spanish during college and even did a year abroad in Paris and Barcelona. I think studying languages and the challenges of living in two foreign countries really enhanced my interpersonal and communication skills. These new skills helped me a lot in my Sales career by allowing me to better connect with customers.
How did you find Dell Technologies and when did you decide to join the company? After graduating from Edinburgh University, I was approached on LinkedIn by Chris Ireson during the lockdown. He was the UK Director of the NGSA, and after looking over my profile he thought I would be a good fit for the academy. We set up a call where he went in depth about the role and possible career paths, and I interviewed the week after. Just two weeks after that, I started with Dell Technologies! I will always be grateful for Chris for giving me this opportunity.
What do you like most about your role? I love being able to learn and grow from training, while also being challenged with running customer deals from start to finish.
How has Dell Technologies contributed to your success? During my time at Dell Technologies, I’ve been exposed to incredible mentors who have helped me excel and grow in a fast-paced, male-dominated industry. I’ve gained so much valuable knowledge from them that I can use daily, and they’ve also helped boost my confidence.
What are you most proud of from your time at Dell Technologies? I recently was able to lead a Charity Gala Dinner for The Prince's Trust, which was a part of the Million Makers Program that Dell Technologies participates in. The event was hosted at the Natural History Museum in London, and we were able to raise a huge amount of money for charity. This was an amazing opportunity to do something completely different from my everyday role and I was able to network with numerous different people in the business.
Did you ever think you would be where you are today? No, I had no idea I would be where I am today! Before my conversation with Chris, I wasn't even interested in a technology career. However, it has now become a passion of mine and working at Dell Technologies has developed me in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
What would you say to encourage other graduates to join Dell Technologies? Dell Technologies is an amazing place to work! If you are ambitious, have a strong work-ethic, and desire an interesting career, then this is the place for you. There are so many opportunities to succeed, and great people will be there to support you along the way. Also, I really love the work-life balance and environment at Dell Technologies.
You indicated you have a passion for traveling, exploring other countries, and learning different cultures. What else do you enjoy doing outside of work? You’re right! I love to travel and I’m always trying to go somewhere new every chance I can. I’m actually going to New York again for the 5th time, for some reason I can’t seem to stay away from there! I also spend a lot of time with my family in London and it’s always a highlight of the week playing netball with friends on a Monday night.
