Why did you decide to join Dell Technologies, and what experiences in your career path led you to become a Senior Program Manager? I am always seeking a positive and open environment to help me take on any new challenge that comes my way. Dell was offering great opportunities for junior team members, so I interviewed for the company. In my interview process, the hiring managers and HR team provided a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and I was excited to join such a great company! Many steps in my career path led me from my entry-level role at Dell to a senior program manager including always transparently communicating with my managers about my career path and goals. I spent time on my individual development plan (IDP) to identify future skills I wanted to work on and completed the LEAD II program, which focused on training and personal development, everything from how to hold yourself accountable to how to not give up on your goals.
Can you tell me a bit about what Women in Action (WIA) is and how you first got involved in it? Since then, how has your experience co-leading WIA Taiwan been? WIA is an employee resource group (ERG) that gives employees who share a common belief a way to connect and discuss workplace issues important to them. WIA aims to advocate for gender diversity and inclusion in the workplace, provide networking opportunities for members, and foster a sense of belonging among employees. ERGs provide many benefits to IC and managers including increased productivity, strengthened team morale, and an improved understanding of employee needs. For the past 6 years, I have been a member of WIA Taiwan. I first got involved with this ERG when my managers encouraged me to participate to gain leadership experience and manage executive-level innovation programs within Diversity & Inclusion due to my experience in marketing and program management.
My first leadership role in the ERG involved event planning. I now co-lead the WIA Taiwan chapter, where I collaborate with others, focus on long-term planning, and turn new ideas into reality. Having the opportunity to lead this chapter of WIA has been an amazing experience and has helped me grow as a leader. It is rewarding to see the feedback from team members about how my support has been valuable to them. I’ve loved every minute of my role in WIA and am looking forward to even more great memories!
What advice do you have for emerging female leaders in the tech field? So far, there are many opportunities for women in tech varying from mentoring to professional development, but there is still a lot of work to do to ensure there is an equal distribution of females and males in the tech field. It is imperative to create new opportunities - brainstorm ways to encourage women to enter tech and support those already adding their talent to the landscape. For all of you women, always remember you are the game changer and can influence the world! Don’t just navigate your challenges but turn them into ways to motivate yourself, making sure this is an ongoing effort. Empower yourself and be yourself! What advice do you have on best practices to support and celebrate women on an everyday basis? Trust yourself and love yourself. Every day, I set goals, no matter how big or small, acknowledge my successes upon completion, and share my progress with a friend. I also ensure I express my appreciation and compliment 3 different team members every day. We are the game changers. It is essential to stay positive, be passionate about your daily work, and celebrate all of your achievements!
