Developing with Dell Technologies: Jocelyn's Experience in Dell's Marketing Development Program

Could you share some of the most valuable experiences or insights you've gained during your time in Dell’s Marketing Development Program (MDP)?
My most valuable experience while being in the program has been building my confidence level. I have dealt with imposter syndrome in the past (still sometimes do), and the managers I have had thus far have helped me to build my confidence by allowing me to express myself, ask questions, and fail fast – learning from my mistakes.
How has Dell’s MDP contributed to your professional growth and career development at Dell?
The program has been instrumental in my professional growth and career development. It has provided me with a comprehensive knowledge base, valuable connections, real-world experiences, and essential skills that will contribute to my success post program completion.
What advice would you offer to potential applicants who are considering joining the MDP?
Be ready to be uncomfortable! Being uncomfortable is the whole point of the program. It allows you to gain knowledge of projects, platforms, and situations you wouldn't normally lean on. This program will build your confidence and set you up for success within Dell, post completion of the program.
Could you highlight any standout projects or opportunities you've had a chance to work on as part of the MDP?
My current rotation is one I will never forget. My team, my manager, and the people I am meeting within my projects, have left me feeling blessed. I have had the opportunity to support partnerships within New England with Dell Technologies and how our sponsorships align with our company's corporate objectives.
In what ways has the program fostered a sense of community and collaboration among participants, and how might this benefit new members?
My cohort is amazing. The moment we started the program, we leaned on each other to help each other out. And we continue to do so. We have bi-weekly calls, a group chat, and we support each other however we can. Members of the MDP encourage one another when someone is confused or has self-doubt, and we cheer each other on when one of us succeeds.
What inspired you to apply for the Dell MDP program, and how has it impacted your career?
What inspired me was the opportunity to build my skills and get a taste of what the marketing umbrella looks like under Dell. This has impacted my career thus far by allowing me to gain experience in areas that I wouldn't normally see myself diving into. It has shown me I can learn and be happy with my work in the most out-of-my-comfort-zone areas.
How does the program align with Dell's values and commitment to talent development?
The program and Dell's values align with talent development by providing the necessary tools for individuals who have a curiosity and creative mind. By allowing us to travel for conference, constantly having speakers come in, and building a curriculum for us to work on and better ourselves outside our rotation, Dell has shown us repeatedly that they believe in talent development. Dell truly invests in our members to be well rounded and best equipped for when we complete our program.
