Summer 2024 Interns Share their Experiences

Meet six of our interns who spent their summer working in marketing, sales and accounting. They discuss the projects they worked on, lessons learned, highlights of the experience and their advice for future interns.
"During my global marketing internship, I had the pleasure of working with the Business Unit Marketing Strategy, Planning and Operations team. I led a project to reorganize over 9,000 global marketing assets owned by content creators. This effort eliminated more than 1,300 duplicate assets and updated information for over 80 content owners. The result of this reorganization will enable stakeholders, including Field Marketing and sales teams, to easily locate and select the right assets for campaign planning and forecasting—increasing asset usage. This will enhance the user experience by reducing manual work and the need for one-on-one meetings.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned from this internship is captured in a phrase mentioned by one of my team members and several leaders: 'What you do is important, but how you do it is more important.' Your work matters, but so does how you show up, how you treat others and the energy you bring. This mindset has been so helpful for me during my internship and will continue to guide me in the future."

"An accomplishment I am proud of is getting out of my comfort zone and making connections work-wise and personally. I was able to connect more with my team and my project with having one-on-ones and conducting interviews. I also created a lot of friendships, and I would never take back the memories I created with these people. I was very scared at first, but I pushed through and ended on a positive note!
Their advice for future interns:
"Maximize and embrace the opportunity to connect with individuals across all levels at Dell and don’t hesitate to request a one-on-one as it presents a valuable opportunity for learning, growth and collaboration."
- Marlee M.
"Be curious. I know it is cliché, and of course it is important to ask questions and understand what you are working on. But it is also important to be curious about yourself. Ask yourself what you want to learn from the internship and find the different areas that interest you. If you do not know, talk to more people. Follow that curiosity and you will learn more about yourself during the internship too."
- Anna S.
"Stay curious and proactive. Continue to look for learning opportunities."
- Tommy D.
"Document your work and add numbers to it each week. Keep it in a document and email it to yourself. This will make it much easier to summarize your impact in your final presentation and will be a great resource when you’re building your resume and talking points in the future."
- Isabel H.
"Establish yourself as someone who is willing to embrace change. Adaptability is key to being successful in the workplace since change is the only constant within Dell. By establishing this, you show that you can thrive under any circumstance and embracing the change will foster a mindset that will enable you to value change itself resulting in an overall better work experience."
- Ariel C.
"As an intern that has worked for Dell for eight years, my advice is to never doubt yourself and that it's never too early to apply to internships. When I was younger, I was definitely nervous and had a bit of imposter syndrome, but I know that I worked hard, and I have people that support me all around!"
- Sofia M.
