For over two decades, Dell Technologies Taiwan has been actively engaged in implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and celebrating the diverse talents of its team members. Due to their commitment to eliminating unconscious bias and investing in gender equality, Dell Taiwan was honored to receive the Gold Award for Influential International Enterprises at the Diversity for Better Tomorrow Awards (DBTA) in October 2022.

In a Womany interview, Victor Zhuang Managing Director of Dell Taiwan Research and Development (R&D) Center explained, “As a driving force for creativity, DEI is an important factor for global technology companies. The best way to cultivate a creative and innovative culture is through a diverse and inclusive workforce.” Diverse teams are fundamental to the functioning and growth of multinational companies. At Dell, there are team members from different regions, cultures, and backgrounds, covering over 180 regions worldwide. Together, these individuals can shape the company’s creative and innovative future.

Multicultural companies can also help support talent attraction, reaching a diverse pool of individuals with unique backgrounds and experiences. Victor believes an inclusive culture not only helps with recruiting but also aids in the creation of better products that cater to diverse markets with varying needs, highlighting the ways a diverse workforce can enhance a company’s product development and business promotion.

Most importantly, DEI is a crucial part of corporate social responsibility. Cultivating a diverse and inclusive culture is central to Dell Technologies’ plan to drive a positive impact. Dell is fostering this supportive culture by requiring all employees to complete “Be the Change,” a self-guided training on unconscious biases, microaggressions, in-groups and out-groups, and equity and how they show up in the workplace. They are also making progress with their 2030 Moonshot Goals, which seek to have 50% of their global workforce identify as women and 25% of their workforce identify as Black/African American or Hispanic/Latino by 2030. Internally promoting DEI allows for opportunities to promote change externally to the entire industry. Together, we can all make a difference!
