What you’ll achieve
As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will deliver products and improvements for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, you will craft and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most sophisticated technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and partnerships.

You will:

• Create automation, employ open-source software, interact with API’s, and enable CI/CD to create new cloud features, harvest/visualize metrics, monitor health/performance/capacity, etc

• Partner with product and development teams to provide education and design consultation

• Support development teams to migrate applications to Kubernetes based container platform

• Design specifications for high availability and highly scalable applications which will be used by Dell Internal application teams

• Assist in crafting the strategic technical and architectural direction to the programming function

Essential Requirements

• Strong experience with Linux, Networking and storage fundamentals, Kubernetes, Service Mesh - Istio, Programming - Shell scripting, Python, NGINX, HELM, Automation - Ansible, CICD.

• Strong working experience with application architecture, HA, DR, Infrastructure services (DNS, Load Balancer, Firewall, TLS certs, web servers, reverse proxies, GIT)

• Experience with Kubernetes networking, Certificates, Kubernetes storage, Kubernetes monitoring/observability, Kubernetes RBAC, Container/pod security

• Knowledge about Operator SDK/use of Fabric8 API and broad knowledge in systems telemetry and monitoring (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace Splunk, etc.)

• Advanced English level. Experience with Agile methodologies, effective working independently and in a virtual team setting.

Desirable Requirements

• Varied knowledge of database, development, system engineering and networking concepts

• Experience with Opensource development and technologies like Calico and other CNCF technologies
