As a Senior Principal, Power Architect, you will be responsible for working across client lines of business to develop world class power solutions. You will work with suppliers and internal architecture teams to make sure that the client products have efficient, reliable power.

You will:

  • Ability to review Power Circuit Schematic designs using Allegro Reviewer and a strong understanding of voltage regulator sensitive nodes that require special attention to component placement and routing.  Should be able to easily identify potential areas to optimize
  • Strength in power circuit bring-up and debug experience skills and good understanding/experience with test equipment, including oscilloscopes and other laboratory test equipment used to troubleshoot voltage regulators
  • Must be able to read/interpret SoC (system on chip) power requirements document, from which to generate internal system power requirements specification.   Ability to create, review and interpret Power Architectural diagrams ensuring the diagrams are addressed in the detailed power design and schematics.  Should possess ability to generate system power map based on SoC specifications.  Be able to evaluate trade-offs for different power solutions, and ability to implement into schematics
  • Good interpersonal skills required to work with both internal and external teams a must.   Position requires extensive engagement with component suppliers as well as contract manufacturer of Dell products
  • Experience with Cadence design tools, OrCad schematic capture and Microsoft Office Products (including Word, Power Point, Excel, and Visio, MS Teams)

Essential Requirements

  • Requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role
  • Background in direct current (DCDC) Switching Voltage regulator design experience, including single and multi-phase Regulators a must. Excellent understanding of properties of components used in power conversion circuits, capacitors, metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFETs, controllers), inductors, etc.
  • Good familiarity of DCDC VR switching waveforms for review of manufacturer test waveforms.  Should be able to quickly pinpoint areas of concern within test results documentation.  Has strong ambition for hands-on work in lab when necessary
  • Knowledge of Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer batteries, with knowledge of charge and discharge characteristics
  • Power delivery experience with SoC's, including core power and rest of power voltage regulators.  Knowledge includes such areas of average power, sustained short period power and peak power capabilities, with sound understanding of how these areas affect system performance

Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience
  • Analog Circuit Simulation experience and Allegro printed circuit board layout experience a plus
