From commercial contracts to cyber security, IP to ethical practices – Legal teams at Dell Technologies always have new, interesting and complex challenges to tackle. Legal Operations provides all the administrative, reporting and program management support they need to succeed. Whether focused locally, regionally or globally, Legal Operations professionals develop plans, oversee programs and processes and maintain records. They review legal data, provide policy information and legal advice across the organization and manage a wide range of legal business matters.

General Summary:

We are looking for an experienced APJC (i.e. Asia Pacific, China and Japan) Privacy Counsel to add value to Dell’s global privacy program and to be a strategic privacy legal partner to the business and legal departments. You will ensure that Dell operates within the law and provide guidance on privacy matters.  This role will directly report to Dell’s Global Privacy Counsel.  

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic privacy legal guidance to Dell’s privacy managers on Privacy-by-Design/Privacy-by-Default legal requirements.

• Collaborate with key stakeholders in the assessment of Dell’s regional privacy regulatory risks; and provide advice and recommendations to the business on identified enterprise privacy risks as well as best practice sharing with regional legal teams.

• Advise on privacy policies and procedures for Dell’s global privacy program in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.

• Draft and negotiate data privacy/protection provisions in customers and suppliers/vendors/service providers agreements and acts as an escalation point in accordance with Dell’s legal department’s contracts approval matrix policy.

• Monitor emerging privacy laws landscape and evaluates potential impact of these laws to proactively mitigate Dell’s regulatory and business risks.

• Provide meaningful feedback to Government Affairs team to influence and shape new or evolving local privacy laws and regulations.

• Drive cross-functional privacy governance meetings with key internal stakeholders

• Create and perform targeted privacy trainings and awareness across Dell’s enterprise.

• Co-lead privacy regional privacy investigations as privileging attorney and integrate lessons learned back into Dell’s global privacy program.

• Implement privacy legal and program priorities.

Qualifications:

• J.D. degree with admission to at least one state bar

• 5+ years expertise with privacy laws in Asia a huge plus

• Sound technical expertise on privacy risk; general knowledge of foundational requirements of privacy laws and privacy program best practices in Asia

• Experience providing strategic legal support to ensure privacy regulatory compliance readiness by an organization

• Ability to influence others to achieve win/win results

• Asia, European or United States IAPP privacy certifications

• IT Sector expertise is a huge plus

Desired requirements:

• Proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage as this role is required to support China market
