Lab Support Engineering is at the heart of a worldwide lab operations team providing 24x7 lab access, service and solutions support in multiple locations. Independent and flexible, team members are always ready to adapt to the changing daily priorities. They make an impact in all kinds of ways – from installing and maintaining servers and storage equipment within the fast-paced lab computing environment, through to providing top-level technical expertise and support to engineering departmental users. What’s more, they work with engineering teams to create hardware configuration test plans in support of software development.

The Engineering team manages all aspects of lab environments for the engineering, including development & test lab equipment, lab networks, web applications, databases, caching servers, various monitoring systems, custom tools, and build environments across multiple geographic locations. What you’ll achieve

As a Lab Support Engineer 2, you will be working with a talented team of engineers to create new projects and manage existing projects, plus day-to-day lab operations that can support the ever-growing demand of a very fast-moving organization. Successful candidates will be obsessed with operational excellence, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of improving efficiencies by way of innovation and forward planning. Our organization’s customers require creative engineering balanced with high quality and focus.

You Will:

The Infrastructure Engineering & Operations (IEO) Lab Operation team is looking for a hands-on, passionate, results-oriented individual to help implement and support IEO’s ever-growing datacenter footprint in Durham, NC.

  • Days will consist of a combination of helping understand and prioritize issues and product vulnerabilities
  • Contributing to the overall growth and robustness of the organization
  • Interact with managers, product management, global support, and core engineering to bring our product to a broader and increasingly demanding market

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge of UNIX / Linux and Windows Server, plus basic VMware Knowledge
  • Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and repair with storage equipment and other rack-mount server platforms
  • Understanding of networking and TCP/IP
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to repetitively lift 70 lbs. for the installation of products

Desirable Requirements:

  • Technical understanding of Cisco, Brocade, Dell, and/or Arista platforms
  • Ability to communicate with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives, and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $83,045.00 – $107,470.00.
